The It's MMAzing Top 5(?) Christmas Movies

Happy Holidays to all
On this Christmas-eve I give to you all gift, a top-five list.  We all love them and it's an easy way to get a post out.  We haven't done a list in while and what better topic than counting off the best Christmas movies.
To make this list a little different we won't include the obvious G.O.A.T.s(A Christmas Story, It's a Wonderful Life, A Charlie Brown Christmas, The Nightmare Before Christmas) since we can all agree those movies are great and anyone who disagrees is ISIS.  This list will be either Christmas-centric movies or movies set during Christmas.

UFC 194: Aldo vs. McGregor Picks and Predictions

Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, people of all ages... we are finally here! Well... almost. It wasn't all long that ago that we said the featherweight division was devoid of stars and now it houses quite possibly the biggest fight the UFC can make on quite possibly the best card the UFC has ever put together. Anticipation for Aldo and McGregor is palpable after an initial postponement at what was supposed to be an It's MMAzing event out in Vegas. Mendes stepped in to fight McGregor as we all know and the legend continues. Somehow lost in all of this hullabaloo is a spectacular middleweight title fight between Chris Weidman and Luke Rockhold. Rockhold has been on one of the most impressive tears in recent memory while Weidman is the Anointed One, Vanquisher of Spiders, and reigning greatest fighter on the planet. Saturday night is bringing a stacked card with great fighters, but let's be real here... there is only ONE Conor McGregor.

UFC Featherweight Championship
Jose Aldo (c) vs. Conor McGregor (ic)
@thenotoriousmma you look great

No... Notorious! It's a real credit to the man Conor that he managed to steal center stage from a monster of a man who has been without peer for nearly his entire Zuffa run in Jose Aldo. Aldo has been a human highlight reel of violence in his reign, yet in struts this brash Irishman who has stolen the hearts (and betting lines) of the masses. Aldo is a killer in the cage, yet something about McGregor seems so effortless and masterful. Listen to Conor long enough and you will surely hear about the art of movement and that is precisely what Conor is in the cage: an artist. Could the hype train come crashing down? Absolutely. Could we see the coronation of the one true king? I'm expecting it. It's not that long ago we saw what movement and fluidity could do to stifle a heralded Brazilian killer in Renan Barao, Jose Aldo's teammate no less. McGregor by third round TKO. Bust out the red panties.

Aldo:
McGregor: U... Unanimous!

The Ultimate Fighter 22 Finale: Edgar v. Mendes Predictions

Day 2 of UFC-palooza in Vegas continues with The Ultimate Fighter 22 Finale. Good lord...there has been 22 seasons of TUF? FS1 is clearly starved for programming. On a related note, none of us watched this season of TUF so we didn't waste your time (you didn't watch either, be honest) picking those fights. Don't worry, this card is really about determining the next challenger at 145 pounds as Frankie "The Answer Edgar" takes on Chad "Money" Mendes.

Frankie Edgar v. Chad Mendes

Would it be weird if they renamed this event "TUF 22 Finale: Insurance Policy"? It's clear that the UFC had the possibility of either a Aldo or McGregor injury (let's be honest: Aldo injury) when they booked this fight. Edgar and Mendes are the top two contenders in the featherweight division outside of the gentleman in Saturday's main event. Beyond being a plan B, this fight will establish a clear contender to fight for the featherweight title. At this point, there are very few secrets with either of these men. Frankie Edgar's use of movement to set up his strikes has made him a champion before. Mendes will clearly be looking to land one of his big power shots. Both of these men are very capable of winning this fight, but I'm going to go with Edgar. When Mendes throws, Edgar wont be there. Edgar by decision.

Picking Edgar: All of us
Picking Mendes: (well that's surprising)

UFC Fight Night: Namajunas v. Van Zant Predictions

Whew baby this is going to be a busy week and a half.  Not counting other promotions, between December 11th and the 19th there are FOUR UFC cards and three alone this week.  But there isn't a bad card among the four and anyone who is even a remote fight fan is absolutely giddy and it all kicks off this Thursday with some of the UFC's youngest and brightest fighters.

Bellator 147 Post-Fight Analysis

via bellator instagram
Last Friday Bellator held another event in San Jose. but this time it took place at San Jose State University instead of at the SAP Center. A fitting venue for a smaller Bellator card that, while not having a lot of the better known fighters on the roster, still delivered an exciting night of MMA action. We'll break down the main card and discuss where some of these fighters might be headed and who they may face next.

It's MMAzing Radio - Episode 161

The gang comes together to discuss their experience covering Bellator 147: Thomson v. Villaseca live in San Jose. They discuss the the big winners, including Thomson and Weichel and discuss young prospect A.J. McKie. The gang next discusses the UFC's super weekend of fights. They preview and give predictions for The Ultimate Fighter 22 Finale (really Fight Night: Mendes v. Edgar). The gang then gets into the best (on paper) UFC card ever and preview UFC 194: Aldo (hopefully) v. McGregor. All that and another edition of "Stuff We Like."

Bellator 147: Thomson vs. Villaseca Live Fight Blog

Main Card
Josh Thomson vs. Pablo Villaseca
Round 1: Pablo looking overmatched quickly here. Big body kick by Thomson, and a foot sweep takedown. Josh posturing up from the guard and landing some big rights. Pablo trying to roll into a kneebar, but loses it and Josh rolls into a triangle attempt. Thomson switches into an omoplata and uses it to scramble up. Some nice body kicks and both men clinch into the fence. Pablo takes Josh's back but can't complete the takedown. Josh circles, but takes a knee to the groin from Pablo. Josh recovers and secures a late takedown to end the round. 10-9 Thomson.
Round 2: Pablo throwing strong off the bat. Thomson tries to work the Thai clinch, but gets pushed into the fence. Josh circles out into a front headlock and now he has half guard. Josh works some short elbows and is working for an arm triangle. Pablo is blocking Josh from stepping over to complete the choke, and Josh gives it up.  He postures and is flurrying punches now from the top.  The ref steps in to stop it and the fight is done. Thomson by TKO.

Georgi Karakhanyan vs. Daniel Weichel
Round 1:  Georgi coming up looking real calm, but definitely throwing with some intent here. Weichel is getting some good shots of his own. Maybe too good though, because we have another dick kick. The crowd is definitely more liquored up at this point. Nice straight right from Weichel lands. Georgi shoots a takedown but is stuffed. Weichel using his reach advantage here, slips a nice right under Georgi's guard. No power shots, but Weichel scored a lot more. 10-9 Weichel.
Round 2: Picking up right where we left off. Georgi misses a flying knee. Georgi lunges in with hook combo and finally connects some, but Weichel returns fire and backs up Georgi. Georgi starting to activate Diaz taunt mode, and both are exchanging in the pocket. Both guys getting some pot shots in, but no big power yet. Weichel starting to put a bit more behind his punches now. He throws a nice front kick to the mouth of Georgi. Another round for more accurate striking. 10-9 Weichel.
Round 3: Both guys coming out with a bit more urgency now. Big spinning kick to the head just misses by Georgi. Weichel continues to control the distance with his jabs and push kicks. Georgi starting to look a little frustrated. Georgi just can't find the range on his punches. He finally lands a hook and an uppercut, but it doesn't seem to have phased Weichel much. The Stockton Slap has now made it's first appearance. Frustration is reaching its apex. We're even throwing BS spinning kicks now. Very technical display from Weichel. This should be a clear decision. 10-9 Weichel.
Daniel Weichel by unanimous decision.

Bellator 147: Thomson v. Villaseca Predictions

Bellator returns to San Jose for another show and the It's MMAzing crew returns to Bellator to provide you with live event coverage. Josh "The Punk" Thomson take son Pablo Villaseca in front of Thomson's home crowd with Georgi Karkhanyan and Daniel Weichel doing battle in the co-main event with the winner likely getting the next crack at Daniel Strauss's featherweight title. All that an a "Professional Predator" sighting. Check out our predictions below

Josh Thomson v. Pablo Villaseca

Josh Thomson fights for the fourth time in 2015 as he takes on Pablo Villaseca, a relative unknown. "The Punk" is fighting again in his backyard of San Jose, California where he is quite the fan favorite. Thomson, one of the best lightweights in the world for a decade, is rightfully a massive betting favorite over Villaseca. We talked about how excited we were to see Josh Thomson possibly fight "Ill" Will Brooks, but it sounds like Thomson has his sights set on former lightweight champion Michael Chandler. Either way, I expect this victory to be a relatively (it's still cage fighting) easy night at the office for "The Punk." Thomson by one-sided decision.

Picking Thomson: All of us
Picking Villaseca:

UFC Fight Night 79: Henderson vs. Masvidal Predictions

This Fight Night in Seoul, South Korea has seen a few of changes over the last couple of weeks but remains a fairly solid main card. While a few big names like Mikro Cro Cop (who first retired from MMA then later failed a drug test) and Thiago Alves will be missing there's still a handful of interesting match ups. Former lightweight champion Benson Henderson meets Jorge Masvidal at welterweight, South Korea's own Dong Hyun Kim and adopted son Sexiyama will be in action. In addition to that there's also a really fun fight on paper when Doo Ho Choi squares off with heavy hitter Sam Sicilla.

The gang tries to avoid talking more about Rousey/Holm and instead focus on the fairly pedestrian UFC Fight Night: Magny v. Gastelum card from this past weekend. They discuss Magny's big win and try to forget about the rest of the card. Next, Doctor Law apologizes to Bellator and talks about how excited he is Kimbo v. Dada 5000. UFC Fight Night 78: Magny vs. Gastelum Predictions

This weekend's free fight card comes to you live from the Monterrey Arena in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico. Smart people over at Zuffa realized that while definitely wanting to expand their reach into the Mexican market, perhaps it was smarter to not make fighters fight at ridiculous elevations in Mexico City. Originally slated to be Kelvin Gastelum vs The Immortal Matt Brown, the always game Neil Magny steps in on short notice as he tries to get a new winning streak started. Meanwhile, Kelvin Gastelum aims to prove that he can indeed be a professional in the welterweight division. (Editor's note: This article was written before Friday weigh-ins) Oh yeah, and apparently this event is also serving as the stage for the TUF: Latin America 2 finale. We of course here at It's MMAzing did not follow a single minute of that action so we will not bother to BS you any analysis on that front. To the picks!

Kelvin Gastelum v. Neil Magny

In many ways, Magny occupies a similar space as Matt Brown so there should not be much drop off in terms of action and quality here. Both fighters are coming off of wins after experiencing so setbacks in their respective careers. There's no shame in being out-grappled by Demian Maia, but Gastelum's not so subtle push into the middleweight division after a couple of weigh-in fiascos is no minor thing. Ultimately though, I still personally think Gastelum is a prospect of the highest caliber having previously compared him to a mini Cain in the manner he fights. If Kelvin can make weight and show that he's ready to be a true pro at this fight game, then I think he can get right back on track. His lone loss is likely the next title challenger, so that blemish can be easily forgiven with a good showing Saturday night. Kelvin by RNC after dropping Magny from punches.

Gastelum: Kid P, DJ Mark
Magny: Doc Law

UFC Fight Night 76 Predictions

What the poster for this card should look like

What a card for the UFC.  Injuries are a part of the game.  You can't avoid them.  but it's not often that that not just co-main event, but the main event gets KO'ed because of boo-boos.  This card went from this:
Graphics in this looking tight.  We got these guys looking straight up ethereal with how they are blend into that colorful back drop.  Stipe then gets hurt so we lose that fight;
"Ok, Ok so we lost the heavyweight fight with the potential title contender.  We still have the guy who last beat Conor! Fighting in Dublin! Cha-ching!....Hello?  Wait what's that you say? FUCK!!! Call Jimmy we need another fucking poster!!"

Well at least they still have an Irishman in the main event.

UFC 191: Johnson v. Dodson II Predictions

If someone asks you who is the best pound for pound fighter in the world, the answer is Jon Jones. If someone asks you which ACTIVE fighter is the best pound for pound fighter in the world, the answer is either Demetrious Johnson or Jose Aldo. The sad thing is that Johnson does not get nearly the attention he deserves. Possibly being the baddest man on the planet isn't enough to get people to tune in, but it's their loss. Mighty Mouse's fights are must watch for me and the possibility of him facing an actual threat (as he is facing in this fight) only adds to excitement. Johnson v. Dodson II is the fight we've been waiting for in this division, but will it live up?

UFC Flyweight Championship
Demetrious Johnson (c) v. John Dodson

Finally, a legitimate challenge for Mighty Mouse. I don't buy it. Those of us who watched the first contest between Johnson and Dodson saw a hell of a fight between two of the three best flyweights in the world (I got Benavidez at #2). What we also saw was Mighty Mouse Johnson absolutely figuring out John Dodson's game during the last 3 rounds of the fight. Dodson is a head hunter and is possibly the fastest guy in the UFC. Unfortunately for him, Mighty Mouse learned his timing. Additionally, Dodson tends to fade as the fight goes on and Johnson's cardio is on a different planet. This fight will not be as competitive as the first, but you still get to see arguably the best fighter in the world work. Johnson by 4th round submission.

Picking Mighty Mouse: All of us
Picking Dodson: "uneducated fools"

After a whole week off the UFC is back baby!  Love a fight card on a Sunday that begins at 9pm eastern time.  They are trying to have me not watch this card.  It's times like this I really hate my compatriots on the left coast.  This card(and every other card) always starts at a sensible 6 or 7pm pacific time which allows them still to have an evening after the event is over.  I'm just bitter

UFC 190: Rousey vs. Correia Picks and Predictions

via mmaweekly.com

This weekend's pay-per view event ushers in the UFC's return to Rio De Janeiro, Brazil. Freshly crowned Fighter, and Female Athlete of the Year, Ronda Rousey attempts to defend her UFC title for the 6th time against fellow undefeated challenger, Bethe Correia. Correia's journey has been marked by her conquest over two of Ronda's teammates, but as we learned on the Countdown show, the third isn't in the UFC so she does not count. Additional Brazilian legends Shogun Rua, Bigfoot Silva, and the Noguiera brothers populate the card as an exercise in seeing who might still have something left in the tank. Vacated WSOF champ Jessica Aguilar makes her UFC debut to open the main card. The UFC also managed to shoehorn in a couple TUF finale fights to bring the fans an unusually lengthy main card. To the picks!

Ronda Rousey (c) vs Bethe Correia
The gulf between Ronda and the rest of the division is the widest we have ever seen in the sport. The closest second would be Anderson Silva vs specifically Forrest Griffin. The promos would have you believe that because Correia defeated two of the Horsewomen that this is somehow a compelling challenger. If you actually watched those fights, you will see Bethe taking longer than it should have to beat two fighters whose current UFC tenures can best be described as suffering from severe in-cage inactivity. At this point all we can really debate is how fast we think Ronda will take to win. If you go by Ronda's word that she wants to PUNISH Bethe, then you might be like Lavender Gooms and think that Ronda will toy with Bethe over multiple rounds. Or, you can be like everyone else and think that it will end in swift violence. Most people are picking submission, I'll take the punches. Ronda by TKO at 2:41 of the 1st round.

Rousey: unanimous

UFC on Fox: Dillashaw vs. BarĂ£o 2 Picks and Predictions

Live from Chicago, IL comes the long-awaited (for someone out there anyways) rematch between Renan Barao and TJ "My heart is torn between Bang and Team Alpha Male" Dillashaw. You would think that a fight between a man who had one of the most impressive win streaks in the history of the sport, and a man on winning side of one of the most surprising upsets in the history of the sport would carry a bit more heat, but unfortunately we are not really seeing that. The lower weight divisions have failed to captivate the imaginations of the public, with the featherweight division only very recently finding some traction. It's a shame though, because even though I am not entirely chomping at the bits for this rematch, it should definitely still be a good one. Meanwhile, in the co-main event slot we get to see whether Miesha "Takedown - stop trying to make Cupcakes happen" Tate inches one step closer for the right to lose to Ronda a third time, or if we potentially have some new blood in the contender mix.

TJ Dillashaw (c) vs Renan Barao
via 411mania.com
Enter the rematch. If you look at our picks for the first fight, I am pretty sure it was a unanimous route for Barao, and I don't think most of us thought it would be all that close. Enter one of the greatest upsets in modern MMA. TJ's dismantling of Barao was so thorough that now we stand on the opposite side of the fence going the other direction. It will be impossible to ever really know if maybe Barao came in over confident, or if he had possibly overlooked TJ in their first go, but it should be said with certainty that he will be more focused in the rematch. I expect Renan to come hard and fast at TJ, but until he shows me that he knows how to deal with TJ's movement and footwork, my eyes will carry my opinion here and what they know is that TJ looks like the evolution of the sport. TJ by TKO third round.

Dillashaw: unanimous
Barao:

UFC Fight Night: Bisping v. Leites Predictions

The UFC makes their debut in Scotland this Saturday night (morning for us in the west coast). What does the UFC do when they have a debut card in a part of the United Kingdom? They call up Michael Bisping and ask him if he's willing to sh*t talk a large Brazilian and then have a nice scrap. We also have Ross Pearson and Evan Dunham going at it and Joanne Calderwood fighting in her home country. So wake up on Saturday, make a cup of coffee, cook an omelette and enjoy some violence.

UFC Fight Night: Mir vs Duffee Predictions

Right in the middle of a barrage of UFC events we get a some-what unusual mid week card. These cards can vary in quality from fairly good to down right garbage but what we get this Wednesday is actually a fairly decent card. You'll see a little bit of everything on this one, some old veterans, younger prospects and even an interesting women's bantamweight scrap as well.

The Ultimate Fighter 21 Finale: Ellenberger vs. Thompson

Between Invicta on Thursday, UFC 189 on Saturday and then the TUF finale on Sunday, there are alot of fights packed into a weekend.  Ladies and gentlemen we need to be serious for second.  By the time McGregor has dispatched of Mendes, Stef and Marc have downed about six yard drinks each, Phil has had his share of birthday celebrations, and Bobby tries to find another girl who looks like Bellatrix Lestrange, it's going to be the middle night on Sunday with but a few hours before the morning sun peaks over the horizon, signaling the end of a long weekend.  Well at least in a normal weekend because for some reason the UFC has booked another card IN THE SAME CITY less than 16 hours later.  What type of hungover, half empty arena are they expecting these guys to be fighting in front of?  It's as if six months ago due to a clerical error they double booked MGM grand for the 11th and 12th and couldn't get out of the rental and thought "fuck it, we'll just have two cards back to back." The main event should be entertaining and we will be seeing the UFC debut of the former Invicta atomweight champion Michelle "The Karate Hottie" Waterson who already owns a victory over recent title contender Jessica Penne.  I'm making these picks quick and dirty. If you want to hear a break down of the main event, download and listen to our latest podcast.

Jake Ellenberger vs. Stephen Thompson - Ellenberger
Hayder Hassan vs. Kamaru Usman - Hassan
Michael Graves vs. Vicente Luque - Graves

UFC 189: Mendes vs. McGregor Predictions

Life is full of disappointments.  The Knicks and Jets being absolutely horrid, the ending of The Sopranos, any of the Matrix sequels.  Last week we were able to add another disappointment when we learned that Aldo vs. McGregor, the dream fight we had all been waiting for, that 3/4 of crew (along with Phil) were making a trek Hangover-style to Vegas to watch had evaporated into the ether when the champ Aldo was forced to withdraw from his about with a broken rib.  But life is about how you deal with those disappointments.  While the guys won't get to watch Aldo fight the most electrifying and "Notorious" Irishman the world has ever seen, they still get to watch McGregor go against the second-best featherweight in Chad Mendes for a fake belt.

UFC Fight Night: Machida vs Romero Staff Picks and Predictions

Coming at you this Saturday will be a Visa ravaged fight card live, from Hollywood, Florida. Originally, this event was supposed to take place in Brazil, and was supposed to be the showcase for the finale fights of the most recent TUF Brazil season. The card has since taken numerous changes, but rather than bore you with minutia of what we don't have, let's get to the meat of what we do have.

Lyoto Machida vs Yoel Romero

Yoel, is that you? via comicvine.com

In a sea of weird issues and fight reshuffles, at least we get a decently awaited matchup of two really talented middleweights. If you've listened to our show, you know Bobby and I have a man crush on Yoel Romero based not so much finding him some wonderfully handsome man, but just being in sheer awe of his stature and physique. One last time let me paint the picture of when we met this man. Walking down a hall, in a skin tight $5,000 suit, with a cane, with a sweet fedora, with a modelesque busty blonde woman cuddling his arm, was Yoel Romero with the swagger of the Godfather himself, looking like he was about to burst out of his clothes like he was mid-transformation into the Incredible Hulk. This is a very long-winded way of saying I instantly became a fan and have been on the Yoel ride hoping to see him get a crack at the belt. However, in spite of the worst showing of his career, I refuse to believe Lyoto is finished. He is still the toughest fight of Chris Weidman's career. So while I won't be disappointed one bit if Yoel's ascent continues, I think Lyoto is still in the upper echelon of the division. Lyoto by TKO.

Machida: Kid P, DJ Mark, Dr Law
Romero: Gooms

UFC Fight Night: Jedrzejczyk AKA "Champion" v. Penne Predictions

The UFC returns to Germany with a Fight Pass card headlined by a championship fight for the first time in the online service's history. The main event has UFC Women's Strawweight Champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk taking on former Invicta Atomweight Champion Jessica Penne. The co-feature is a bout between Tatsuya Kawajiri and Dennis Siver at 145 lbs. The rest of the card...is not great. Regardless, check out our picks.

Via the champ's Twitter account. Other fighters take note.
This is taking your trash talk to the next level looks like.
UFC Strawweight
Joanna Jedrzejczyk v. Jessica Penne

The first UFC Fight Pass event with a title fight will showcase the UFC's first ever Women's Strawweight Champion. Joanna Jedrzejczyk AKA Joanna Champion (of both the UFC and my heart) will defend her title against Jessica Penne. This past March at UFC 185 we saw Champion (hell yes I'm calling her that) become the star of a PPV that included Anthony Pettis, Johnny Hendricks and Alistair Overeem. She did this with her hilarious pre-fight trash talk and intense staredowns. Oh, she also beat the crap out of the defending champion, Carla Esparza. This is a tall task for Jessica Penne to overcome. In you're an inferior striker, beating Champion likely depends entirely on your ability to take the fight to the ground. If Esparza couldn't get Joanna down, it's hard to imagine that Penne will be able to. I think Jedrzejczyk will light Penne up like a Christmas tree and the fight will be over within 7 minutes. Then again, I picked Cain to beat Werdum so what do I know? Jedrzejczyk by 2nd round KO.

Jedrzejczyk: All of us
Penne:

UFC 188: Velasquez vs. Werdum Predictions

As the old saying goes, if at first you don't succeed pray to God Cain Velasquez doesn't get injured again. Seems UFC has been praying to the MMA Gods and at least for now they have listened! After Cain wasn't able to compete at UFC 180 in Mexico City, the UFC decided not to walk away from the table and threw those dice again and what we have is one hell of a Pay Per View event. Cain is defending his belt against a primed and game Werdum and the co-main event is a dream match five years in the making when Gilbert Melendez finally faces off with Eddie Alvarez.

A postmortem on my UFC Fight Night 68: Henderson vs. Boetsch picks

I am a dumbass

For those of you who are thinking about writing blogs I have a very important lesson for you.  It's pretty important to remember to actually hit the "publish" button after you finish writing the blog.  Because I forgot that key step the fight predictions for this past weekends card was never posted.  I've had better moments.  However, this is a special opportunity.  After writing a predictions post I pretty much never look at it again and never look back to see what I specifically wrote about a particular fight.  With this card, I was particularly ballsy with my predictions and that blew up in my face to a tune ZERO fight picks going my way.  Ouch.  As a result this "prediction" article that I wrote last week for the card that aired this past Saturday has morphed into a postmortem on how horrible my fight picks were.

UFC Fight Night 67: Condit vs Alves Predictions

Last weekend at UFC 187, we saw what the premiere organization in the young sport of MMA can do when they feel like loading up a card with quality, relevant fights, full of known quantities. This is the opposite side of that coin. The UFC continues its aggressive schedule of the last year or so to churn out another Brazil card. The formula of a single relevant fight at the top with a co-main that could probably top the pre-lims on a quality card carries on. We have two former title challengers clashing, however both have lost some luster coming off a devastating injury, or in one of the participant's case, a multitude of injuries. It may not be the clash of top 10 fighters that it once may have been billed as, but one man has a grand stage to get his career back on the right track.

Carlos Condit vs Thiago Alves
via mmaweekly.com

This is the lone relevant fight on this card, and I don't think it is going to be close. Alves once possessed some of the scariest striking in the division, but then again, so did Carlos Condit. Add in a significant reach and size advantage with all around better footwork and movement, and this is entirely Carlos' fight to lose. One of my lasting memories of Carlos is that he actually doesn't like his nickname of "The Natural Born Killer." He conceded he saw the movie in his teens and just thought it sounded cool, but is kind of lame in hindsight. Fortunately for him, Wikipedia thinks it's apparently verifiable enough for him to have a second nickname. The Albuquerque Bandit  by knockdown to submission.

Condit: unanimous
Alves:

UFC 187: Johnson v. Cormier Predictions

What a strange trip it's been to get to UFC 187. By this point you guys know what happened. Jon Jones was going to defend his title against Rumble Johnson. Then some things (allegedly) happened and Mr. Jones was stripped of his light heavyweight championship. We now have Daniel Cormier stepping in to take Anthony Johnson for the Undisputed (as our own Lavender Gooms would say, "Come on son") UFC Light Heavyweight Championship. In the co-main event we have the long awaited matchup between Chris Weidman and "The Phenom" (or is it the "Old Lion"...or maybe the "Young Dinosaur") Vitor Belfort for the UFC Middleweight Championship. Check out our predictions below. I went 6 for 6 last week. I'm basically a very good looking version of Nostradamus.

UFC Fight MORNING 66: Edgar vs Faber Staff Picks and Predictions

via wikipedia.com
Hello everybody. Your friendly neighborhood Filipino here to bring you the action from the UFC's inaugural trip to my ancestral seat for UFC Fight Night Morning 66: Edgar vs Faber. The event will be taking place at the Mall of Asia Arena. For anyone that has never been, the Mall of Asia is a preposterously gigantic mall that is basically three malls. It is so preposterously large in fact, that I had no idea they had an arena in addition. The Philippines are known for many things such as tropical beaches, delicious food, beautiful ladies, an uncanny knack for choreographed dancing, and are additionally rabid fight fans. MMA is still in its embryonic stages in the country, but the passion and excitement for it has long been brewing if the massive crowds that GSP, more so than anything he ever received here in the States, are any indication. The Philippines needs a new hero because their last one participated in the most predictably blah fight of the century just a couple weeks ago. Will someone on this card rise to the task?

UFC 186: Johnson v. Horiguchi Predictions

The journey to UFC 186 might actually turn out to be more interesting than the card itself, which has been plagued with injuries and odd court dealings that have taken away some of its more appealing match ups. However, it’s not all doom and gloom as our savior, our man of steel, Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson has come at the zero hour to attempt to save this card (with some help from our justice system, thanks lady liberty). It’s still in the air if he’ll be able to do so, but at the very least it’s made things a bit more interesting.

Demetrious Johnson (a.k.a. Mighty Mouse) v. Kyoji Horiguchi

It’s difficult to think Kyoji is ready to take on the champion at this time, and there’s good reason behind that feeling. Kyoji said in his last post fight interview that he wanted a few more fights before going after the belt. While Kyoji has shown great promise, he hasn’t been tested enough to know if he’s ready for a guy the caliber of Demetrious Johnson. So far in the UFC he’s shown that he’s a worthy UFC fighter and might be able to test some of the best in the division however, it’s just unclear if his skill and mental abilities are ready for arguably one of the best pound for pound fighters in the world. Like Kid Presentable said during our last podcast, there’s a lot of upsets going on right now, and that’s what a win for Kyoji would be here, an upset, and a huge one at that. Demetrious Johnson by 3rd TKO

UFC on Fox: Machida v. Rockhold Predictions

The UFC is back on network television and back in Newark because the city of New York hates money. With them they bring a fantastic card from top to bottom (despite the loss of Yoel Romero) headlined by a battle between two top middleweight contenders. Oh, did I mention that this is the most handsome main event in UFC history? Well this is me putting you ladies and gentlemen (I don't judge) on notice.

For as long as I run this site, this is the default Machida gif
Lyoto Machida v. Luke Rockhold

I spent like 20 minutes trying to work a Handsome Boy Modeling School joke into this fight. It would have helped if I had more experience with listening to the group beyond the 2 or 3 times I heard them while riding in Kid Presentable's car 12 years ago. Anyway, this should be a very competitive fight between two beautiful sons of b*tches top contenders in the 185 pound division. Rockhold has won 3 straight since getting TRT Vitor'd while Machida recently kicked CB Dollaway's ribs into the third row. I have a hard time picking against Machida in a fight where I'm pretty confident he wont be taken down. That's why I didn't. I think Machida does what Machida always does. He will manage distance, avoid getting hit and strike when he sees an opening. Luke Rockhold is a fantastic fighter who is very well rounded and is only getting better. He has proven that he can come back from adversity and one day he will be fighting for the UFC title. I just think he's going to have to wait a bit. Machida by 4th round TKO.

What a great time for the UFC to make their first trip to Poland. They just got first their first Polish champion, Joanna Jedrze…, Joanna ‘Champion’. After a week off, the UFC takes it's show to Virginia.  Fight cards on Fox Sports 1 have had a tendency to disappoint (see Maia v.
