Right in the middle of a barrage of UFC events we get a some-what unusual mid week card. These cards can vary in quality from fairly good to down right garbage but what we get this Wednesday is actually a fairly decent card. You'll see a little bit of everything on this one, some old veterans, younger prospects and even an interesting women's bantamweight scrap as well.
Frank Mir v. Todd Duffee
At certain times these two were some of the bigger names in the UFC Heavyweight division. While Mir has had a successful UFC career, holding the championship belt and being in some of the biggest fights of the organization, his star just isn't shining as brightly as it once did. Duffee on the other hand exploded on to the UFC scene and seemed like the next generation of HW fighters. However one big KO loss from Mike Russow sent him out of the UFC for a little while. He's now returned to the UFC and has a 3 fight winning streak going for him at the moment (two of the three were in the UFC). If Mir was still in his prime I'd go with him on this fight, but I just don't know how much Mir has left in the tank at this point. I think Duffee knows a win here can really put him in the picture and I feel with the less wear and tear on his body, Duffee will physically be too much for Mir to handle. That being said, don't be shocked if Mir pulls off a clean submission or even KO. The man is still capable, but for how much longer? Duffee by 1st round KO

Duffee: DJ Mark
Josh Thomson v. Tony Ferguson
To me, this fight is the most exciting one of the main card (on paper at least). Thompson needs to get the ball rolling again after losing fights to Bobby Green and Ben Henderson, while Ferguson has been on a roll as of late with a 5 fight winning streak. I give the edge in stand up and submissions to Ferguson and I think he'll be able to out pace Thompson and give him trouble on the feet. Thompson will need to kept Ferguson at bay while standing and hopefully be able to take him down and control him from top position. I think Ferguson has the momentum and skill set to get the win here which I see him getting through superior boxing. Ferguson by decision.

Holly Holm v. Marion Reneau
Holly Holm entered the MMA scene with a ton of hype. Having craved out a very successful career in the professional boxing arena many thought that she could present some real problems for current champion Ronda Rousey. However, her UFC debut left a lot to be desired and it's very clear she's a couple years away from really making a run for the title. Marion, on the other hand, really impressed me in her last fight against Jessica Andrade. I'm leaning towards Marion on this one mostly based on each fighters last performance. This is really Holly's moment to to make a statement in this division, but I just get the feeling she might not be as successful in MMA as she was in boxing. Marion by sub 2nd round.

Scott Jorgensen v. Manvel Gamburyan
I was really impressed with Manvel's debut at bantamweight. This new weight class could be just what Manvel needs to revitalize his career. Jorgensen seems to be on the other end of the equation. Moving back up to bantamweight after missing weight in his last flyweight fight, Jorgensen really needs to get his career back on track. That's not going to be easy to do against a revamped Manvel. Manvel by dec.
Scott Jorgensen: None
Gamburyan: DJ Mark, Doctor Law
Kevin Lee v. James Moontasri
I like Kevin in this fight as he's shown that he can hang with the lower tier UFC fighters. Monntasri, on the other handm has been fighting with the scale recently more then anything else. Having missed weight twice in his last three fights he first and foremost needs to make the weight. Having that hurdle in front of the fight is tough enough, let alone when you're going up against someone the skill level of Lee. Lee by dec.
Kevin Lee: DJ Mark, Doctor Law
James Moontasri: None
Alan Jouban v. Matt Dwyer
Not going to lie, don't really recall these two. As always this is a perfect time for one or both of these guys to jump onto my radar with an impressive win here. Just going off my gut I chose Matt Dwyer, but this seems like a fairly even fight on paper. We'll see if they continue to live in the fog of my mind or if they finally are able to make a last impression. Dwyer by dec.
Alan Jouban: Doctor Law
Matt Dwyer: DJ Mark
